Top Five tips to fight fatigue in the silly season

With silly season upon us, here are my top 5 energising tips to keep the spring in your step as you wrap up your work and social calendar for 2016, and welcome in the New year!

Stay Hydrated; sometimes even the slightest dehydration can leave you feeling tired and lethargic; add some Magnesium or chlorophyll to your water to ensure hydration is reaching every cell in your body. Eat for an energy boost; eat regularly to keep blood sugar and energy balanced. Choose a protein source to have with every meal as well as a selection of fresh foods that are; High in B vitamins and Magnesium eg. Chicken, turkey, lamb, salmon/tuna, all nuts and seeds, broccoli, all dark leafy greens, eggs, avocado, bananas, chilli, mushrooms, eggplant, raspberries and blueberries. Keep exercising; we all know the benefits of exercise; keep active doing whatever your choice of exercise is; get that heart rate up and blood pumping to burn any extra calories, as well as strengthen and stretch. Take a few deep breaths; Especially focusing on the exhale. This is the key to unravelling any tension you may be holding in your body, and helps the nervous system restore and relax after its been triggered by day to day stress. Time out; what are you doing for relaxation? Treat yourself to a massage, reflexology/ foot massage. Get amongst nature; take a dip or just float in the ocean. Walk on the beach or find a bush track to wander along- breath in the fresh air. Meditate for 10min a day or take a yoga class; again this will all help restore and replenish your energy levels.
